National Sheepdog Championships
This event was a unique partnership between Strang Ranch, Aspen Valley Land Trust (AVLT), and the United States Border Collie Handlers’ Association. Activities included a food and craft fair, lamb cook-off and several kinds of demonstrations, in addition to the main event – the world-class sheepdog trial for 225 prequalified dog and handler teams pitted against Colorado’s tough range ewes. Only the best teams from the U.S. and Canada qualified to compete for more than $40,000 and to earn the title of 2014 USBCHA champion team. For six days, spectators and competitors experienced the breathtaking beauty and friendly atmosphere of the mountains of Colorado while benefiting the oldest land trust in Colorado and enjoying a premier international herding competition.
Strang Ranch has been working with AVLT for years and is one of our signature protected properties.
AVLT was honored to be the 2014 beneficiary of event ticket sales. We had wonderful volunteers work with us through the event and can not thank them enough.
Congratulations to National Champs Alisdair MacRea and Gail – and the competitors of 2014!
